One of the consequences of aging and modern life is a creeping tightness in the thoracic spine. It’s quite a challenge to keep this section of the back as mobile as it was when we were little kids who hadn’t yet developed decades-long habits like too much sitting and slouching.
No matter what your movement patterns look like, the thoracic spine is already more limited in its potential to extend (backbend) than the lower lumbar. For that reason, it’s particularly important to keep its range of motion intact. Enter yoga. (What else?)
This class isolates the thoracic region, bringing it into rotation to build heat and mobility, and then bringing it into extension for fuller, freer heart opening that doesn’t overtax the low back.
A healthier thoracic is a healthier you. Enjoy!
